Back in 2011 Google released this video called The Mobile Movement: Understanding Smartphone customers.
It has some interesting statistics, which have I suspect in almost all cases increased significantly over the past three years.

77% of people used a search engine on mobile in the last week
79% use it to help with shopping
70% use their phones in store
49% compare prices
48% to Get promotions and coupons,
44% Read Reviews
34% search store inventory
and 74% of purchases are made based off a smartphone search
88% of people take action the same day they make the search
oh and 125 years of angry birds are played every day…
