Technology is driving advertising forward into areas that are unfamiliar to many traditional marketers. One of the most recent marketing channels to gain popularity is mobile marketing, allowing companies to connect with their customers on the move, by sending them messages on their mobile phones. So how can you take advantage of the technology without risking upsetting your customers?

People do not like to feel pressured by sales techniques; however you need to recognize that a marketing message in the form of a text message is very different to a cold call.

People get irritated by sales calls as it means they have to stop what they are doing to answer the call, and all too often they find themselves talking to a pushy salesman.

You should always provide people with the ability to opt out of further messages, and also clearly identify yourself so that the customer can associate the promotion you are telling them about with your brand.
